While a Somerville, New Jersey family was away on vacation, their large two-story home became flooded with water for over a week due to a leaky upstairs toilet.
The water damage itself was extensive, but the situation grew even more complicated when the water removal company stirred up the home’s older asbestos materials during clean-up, further contaminating the environment.
Skydell rose to all of these challenges with an extensive insurance restoration—gutting the home all the way down the framing and rebuilding it from the inside out—starting with the upstairs bathroom (the source of the leak).
We likewise completely rebuilt three upstairs bedrooms…
And the stairways to the main floor and the basement… complete with custom trim and finish work.
Significant repairs and renovations were also made to the kitchen, dining room, living room and basement.
The scope of work included all new heating/ventilation ductwork and insulation, as well as an updated electrical system to bring this older home up to current building code requirements.
While insurance repairs were underway, the homeowners opted to do some additional home upgrades on their own dime—including a new sliding door out to a newly expanded deck, and fresh exterior painting.
